What's New With Attending Home Care November 2023

Happy November!

As we welcome November, the colder months are upon us but also the holidays are quickly approaching, and it’s essential to ensure that our loved ones continue to enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, there are plenty of activities your loved ones can do to help keep them active and healthy during the colder months.

Thanksgiving provides a perfect opportunity to bond with them while preparing a special meal together. Whether it's sharing family recipes or trying new ones, the process of cooking and baking fosters togetherness and creates lasting memories. Cooking and baking can also help stimulate the brain and exercise cognitive skills that can keep the mind sharp.

To make this holiday even more special, we've compiled a collection of quick and easy recipes that you and your loved ones can enjoy making. These recipes are designed to be both delightful and accessible, ensuring that everyone can participate.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Ingredients:

  • 1 (6-pound) bone-in turkey breast
  • 1 (1-ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix

Directions:

  1. Rinse the turkey breast and pat it dry. Cut off any excess skin, but leave the skin covering the breast.
  1. Rub the onion soup mix all over the outside of the turkey and under the skin.
  1. Place the prepared turkey in a slow cooker.
  1. Cover and cook on High for 1 hour, then set to Low, and cook for 7 hours. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

       5. Serve with gravy

Mashed Red Potatoes

Save yourself some time and work, and forget about peeling potatoes. When using red potatoes, the skins add both color and flavor to the final dish. For an extra pop of savory flavor, stir in a little crushed garlic.

Tip: You can easily make these ahead of time and keep them warm in a slow cooker.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds small red potatoes, quartered
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add red potatoes, and cook until tender but still firm, about 10 minutes; drain.
  1. Transfer potatoes to a large bowl; add butter, milk, sour cream, salt, and pepper. Mash together until smooth and creamy.

And of course, don’t forget to stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water, herbal teas, and warm broths during the colder months to keep hydration levels up and nourish your body.

Warmest Regards,

The Attending Home Care Team

Attending Testimonials

“As a former call center manager, it did my heart good to receive praise regarding staff. Due to my failing health over the last two years, I have come to need a home health aide after a fall and a year in a rehab facility. Needless to say, I have gone through quite a few home health aides with Attending Home Care, the first and only agency I went with.

I have to give praise to Arsha S. who has been with me for a year now and Farhana C. who has been with me for about 5 months, both of these ladies are caring! I would also like to thank Rafael  and Hilda who answered my questions whenever I called.”
